On Saturday, August 1, the 4th “Partido Extramuros” took place, a new event in the rugby project supported by Reserva El Potrero in partnership with the Espartanos Foundation, Penal Unit No. 9, and Club Central Entrerriano.
This time, the match took place on the field of Club Central Entrerriano, an institution that plays a fundamental role in the project’s local development and which, throughout the year, conducts training sessions for the Caranchos of UPN9.
The event brought together members of the Penitentiary Unit’s team with players from Club Central Entrerriano and players from a club in Concepción del Uruguay, who came specifically to support the initiative.
Beyond the sporting competition, the match was another opportunity to share, connect, and strengthen the bonds forged through rugby. The event was attended by the players’ families, families associated with Club Central, members of the Pastoral Ministry, and members of the Gualeguaychú community.
The event continued with the traditional “third half,” a particularly valuable part of this project. Participants shared sandwiches made with meat donated by Reserva El Potrero and a dessert table organized by the Pastoral Ministry. One of the players also offered words of thanks and appreciation, and the teachers provided feedback to the team.
The “Partido Extramuros” event also benefited from the willingness and cooperation of the Correctional Service, which provided the necessary logistical support for obtaining authorizations and transporting the participants.
The initiative also sparked the interest of media outlets in Paraná, which visited the event beforehand and contacted the team again afterward to learn more about the project and its progress.

For more than ten years, the El Potrero Reserve has been supporting Prison No. 9 through various community outreach projects aimed at creating spaces for interaction, training, and new opportunities.
In 2019, El Potrero joined forces with the Espartanos Foundation to launch a rugby project within the prison. Over time, the initiative has established itself as a sustained space for training, learning, and community building.
Throughout this process, the Club Central Entrerriano became a key partner in ensuring the project’s continuity outside the prison, sustaining training sessions year-round and opening its doors for events such as this “Match Beyond the Walls.”
Each event is made possible thanks to the commitment and collaborative efforts of many individuals and institutions.
We remain committed to this journey and continue to champion sports as a tool for building connections, opening doors, and creating new possibilities.
